Investing in Great Teaching

Oct 29, 2025

This year, the Dieringer Education Foundation proudly funded a $5,000 professional development grant to support high-quality training for Dieringer School District teachers. These funds made it possible for the district to bring in Dr. Zach Groshell, an educational researcher and author of Just Tell Them, whose work focuses on practical, research-based strategies to improve student learning.

Dr. Groshell began his partnership with Dieringer teachers through a summer book study, followed by collaboration with building principals and districtwide presentations at both the August Launch Day and October Teacher Collaboration Day earlier this week.

His August session centered on Cognitive Load Theory, helping teachers understand how to support students in moving information from short-term to long-term memory. This month, his focus shifted to increasing student engagement, showing teachers how to structure lessons that promote more active practice and higher response rates among students.

Already, Dieringer teachers are putting these strategies into action—enhancing classroom instruction so that all students have more opportunities to learn.

“We are so grateful for the Dieringer Education Foundation’s support,” said Superintendent Dr. Paula Dawson. “This partnership allowed us to bring high-quality professional learning directly to our teachers—training that is already making a difference in classrooms across the district.”

This kind of meaningful professional learning is made possible through the generosity of our donors and the success of the Dieringer Education Foundation’s annual fundraising event. We invite you to join us at our upcoming Raise S’more for Dieringer Auction Fundraiser on January 10th—your support helps make these valuable opportunities a reality for our teachers and students.
