Sue Bradner

Teacher, School Board, and PTA

Dieringer School District

1990-2014

Sue Bradner grew to understand the importance of providing service to others as a child by watching her parents support Native American populations throughout the western states. Before and after graduation from Western Washington University,

Sue's own volunteer efforts ranged from providing children with a disability engaging experiences at summer camps to providing swimming instruction to young people.

Moving to the Lake Tapps area in 1990, Sue took on many new challenges. She worked as a substitute teacher, was elected PTSA president, brought Odyssey of the Mind to Dieringer Middle School, chaired levy and bond campaigns and created the district's first newsletter.

Sue was hired to teach reading at Lake Tapps Elementary in 2000 after her tenure on the Dieringer School Board. She went on to become the building's Title 1 teacher and showed staff how test data could guide reading and math instruction.

Retiring in 2014, Sue continued her volunteering efforts by building homes for Habitat for Humanity and participating in the United Way Little Readers Program. Sue's work now serves as a model to anyone interested in supporting Dieringer schools.
