Carol Engstrom

The words formidable, loyal and compassionate immediately come to mind when thinking about Carol Engstrom who served as the personal secretary for four principals, Ruggles Larson, Jim Denton, Pat Keaton and Nate Salisbury. Carol's outlook never wavered from wanting the best for the staff and students of the district she called home for thirty-four years.

Carol started working at Dieringer Middle School in 1981 and whether helping to settle disputes between staff members, providing words of wisdom to parents struggling with challenging adolescents or telling funny stories about working with us all, she saw the school as her happy place right up until the day of her retirement in 2015.

Carol, along with Superintendent Carl Hill and teacher Jeff Kindle, created Dieringer Ski Program for students in grades four through eight in the 1980's. She loved giving young people the opportunity to learn how to ski and she was instrumental in making sure that those who needed it were provided the financial assistance and equipment required to participate.

Carol will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, willingness to take on any challenge and dedication to our district.
